Coming Clean in California: How the Golden State Is Winning the Renewable Energy Race | Earthjustice

When it comes to renewable energy, California leads the nation. You
might assume that California has taken the lead because of its abundance
of natural resources, such as sun and wind, that power renewable
energy. But California isn’t the only state where the sun shines and the
wind blows.

Renewable Energy Contributing To 50% Of California's Electricity

Gov. Jerry Brown dramatically increased California's climate-change goals, committing the state to use renewable energy for half its electricity and make existing buildings twice as energy-efficient in just 15 years.

California’s economy is the 7th largest in the world. The clean electricity generated by the new 50 percent Renewables Portfolio Standard (RPS) will account for nearly a third of the renewable electricity generated by state standards in the country. Passing SB 350 shows other states and nations that it’s technically and politically possible to take on climate change in a meaningful way. And this action will have ripple effects. As the Speaker of the Assembly Toni Atkins said on the voting floor: “When a state like California leads the way, it pushes others forward.”

Primary Sources Of Energy

Primary sources of energy are the sources that are found in natural form. There are various sources that are found in their natural form and are ready to be used directly. Some of the best examples are wood which can be used directly to generate heat. This heat can be used for several purposes like cooking, burning and so forth. In the same way coal, winds, rivers and earth heat can also be used in different forms.

All in all, these sources are ready to use in their natural form and are being used from ancient times by our ancestors. Primary energy can be renewable or non renewable.

Below is a chart on usage of primary energy ----

Industries that help energy development

Industries that help energy development ---
In totality, energy industries are those that are responsible for the production and sale of energy. This includes fuel extraction, manufacturing refining and distribution. In today’s industrial age, everything be it construction, manufacturing of goods or industrial infrastructure building, they all are highly dependent on fuel and hence energy industry plays a crucial role in infrastructure building and maintenance of society in all countries. Some main industries on which we highly rely on for energy development are –

Petroleum Industry

Gas Industry

Electrical Power Industry

Coal Industry

Nuclear Power Industry

Renewable Energy Industry

The conventional energy industry comprises of petroleum industry, gas industry, electrical power industry, coal industry and the nuclear power industry.
New energy industries include the renewable energy industry, comprising alternative and sustainable manufacture, distribution, and sale of alternative fuels.
All these industries help in generation of energy in some way or the other and are responsible for sales via different mediums. Petroleum industry includes oil companies, petroleum refiners, fuel transport and end user sales. Gas and coal industry are responsible for generating gas energy and selling it to end user and likewise other industries
Energy development basically helps in fulfillment of needs of society by making available primary energy sources and secondary energy forms. It focuses on production of energy via various sources available and also creating new sources for development of energy. Various methods are out there to maximize production of energy by recovery and reuse of energy in other forms that would otherwise be wasted.
Contemporary industrial societies use primary and secondary energy sources for transportation and the production of many manufactured goods.
